Lynbrook P.B A Endorses Skelos
LYNBROOK P.B.A. ENDORSES SKELOS. State Sena-tor
Dean Skelos (center) is congratulated by Lynbrook
P.B.A. President James Fotis (left) and 1st Vice President
Bryan Blomquist (right) upon receiving the endorsement of
the Lynbrook P.B.A. in his re-election bid to the New York
State Senate for the 9th District.
The Lynbrook Police
Benevolent Association has
endorsed State Senator
Dean G. Skelos (R/C:
Rockville Centre) for re-election
to the New York
State Senate in the 9th Sena-torial
District.
"Due to the fact that
Senator Skelos has pro-moted
and passed more pos-itive
police and community
legislation in the past two
years, and has assisted the
Lynbrook P.B.A. with an
important piece of legisla-tion
with regard to the New
York State Retirement Sys-tem,
the Lynbrook P.B.A.
Board of Officers and mem-bership
endorse him in his
candidacy for a second term
as State Senator," said Lyn-brook
P.Ji.A. President
James Fotis.
"Senator Skelos has not
only helped and sponsored
police legislation," Fotis
continued, "he has secured
funds for a new suicide hot-line
through L.LN.K., a
Lynbrook based drug and
alcohol rehabilitation cen-ter.
In addition, he has man-aged
to obtain more funds
for senior citizens, which are
being dispersed through
L.LN.K. and the Village of
Lynbrook. The Lynbrook
P.B.A. wishes him success in
his candidacy for the State
Senate," concluded Fotis.
"Being endorsed by the
Lynbrook P.B.A. is quite an
honor because they are rec-ognized
as one of the finest
police departments in the
State. Under the leadership
of Police Chief Frank Kehr,
they have had a response
time to some of their calls in
Lynbrook that has been
recorded at an unbelievable
30 seconds ~ after the time
they receive it. Their average
'response time has been
clocked between 30 and 90
seconds - unprecedented,"
said Senator Skelos.
"I would like to thank
Lynbrook P.B.A. President
James Fotis, the Board of
Officers, and the member-ship
for their endorsement. I
will continue to sponsor
tough legislation geared to
making the Lynbrook
Police Departments job eas-ier
in their fight to crack
down on crime. During the
past legislative session, I was
pleased to co-sponsor and
pass legislation that doubles
the Penalty for a conviction
of the selling of a controlled
substance within 1,000 feet
of school grounds. In next
years legislative session, I
expect to co-sponsor legisla-tion
providing stiff new
penalties against those con-victed
of peddling any
mount of crack to our child-ren.
It has been terrific
working with the Lynbrook
P.B.A. and together we will
make Lynbrook an even bet-ter
and safer place to live,"
concluded Skelos.
