VICTORY SMILE. Celebrating the victory of the East
Rockaway Action Party in last week's Village elections are,
from left to right, Trustee-elect Arnold White, Mayor Theo-dore
Reinhard, and Justice-elect James Rooney. The festivi-ties
were held at the Ship's Inn in East Rockaway.
Mayor William P. Geier (extreme left) makes a toast to
the elected officials of Village of Lynbrook and Good

Mayor Norman L. Dreyer, Trustee-Elect Leo Lanning,
Trustee-Elect Stephen T. Grogan, former Trustee and Dep-uty

Lynbrook Village Board Report
GOOD GOVERNMENT VICTORY. Lynbrook Trustee-
Elect Stephen T. Grogan, left, Trustee-Elect Leo "Bud"
Lanning, middle, and Justice-Elect John O'Connor, all of
the Lynbrook Good Government Party, join hands after
their election on March 19th. These men will be sworn in and
take office at the Lynbrook Village Board Meeting on Mon-day
evening, April I, at 8 PM.

Scouts took part in an actual
Board Meeting at Lynbrook
Village Hall on Monday
evening, March 18, 1985 at 8
p. m. Scouts from Lynbrook
Cadette Troop 2198 and
Senior Troop 2006 were
seated and aided by their
actual civic counterparts in
c o n d u c t i n g the Board
Meeting.
"Mayor" Laura Shafer
chaired the meeting with an
expert gavel as she presided
in the executive capacity.
Lisa Heyen, Marie Zaso,
Ruth Ellen Vecchio, and
Amy Montrone were Trus-tees,
Justine Hamilton,
Police Chief, Dawn Heyen,
Fire Chief, Michele Cregg,
Dept. of Public Works
S u p t , Catherine Finn,
Safety Coordinator, Laura
Monteleone, Village Attor-ney,
Mary Verwys, Library
Director, Karen Albergo,
Village Justice, Tara Overs,
Animal Warden, and Ann
Maire Menna, Denise
Caputo and Alison Demp-sey.
Honor Guards. Mayor
William P. Geier congratu-lated
all of the Girl Scouts
and their Leaders for their
fine performance and the
residents in attendance gave
the girls enthusiastic
applause. The future civic
leaders left at this point in
the Board Meeting after the
reports for the month of
February from the various
Lynbrook village depart-ments
were read and
approved.
Mayor Geier adminis-tered
the oath of office to six
new Auxiliary Police who
now bring the total Auxil-iary
Police Force to 19. He
swore in Kent Howell, Brian
Salmon, Thomas Speicher,
/Brian Sullivan and Ber-nard
Sweeney and Guy Van
Noy. The Mayor praised the
officers of Auxiliaries who
"donated their time to help
and augment the regular
police department which
helps keep our taxes down."
During the meeting
Mayor Geier asked if there
was anyone who wished
further information on
plans for the proposed new
Lynbrook Library which
will be put to a Public Refer-endum
on June 12th when
the entire village can vote
either for Lt or against it.
Trustee Maurice Ornstein
once more gave expert
detailed data on the work in
formulating plans to the
proposed new library after a
presentation against the
library by a local resident
Springtime Means Frolic Time

The first day of spring appreciate the past, and for
seemed to be as good a time
as any to shake off winter
blues and look forward to
East Rockaway's June 15
Huckleberry Frolic to be
held in Memorial Park. At a
recent pre-planning com-mittee
meeting. Trustee
Santino met with the
members not only to discuss
the Frolic, but to report on
the progress being made by
the Village in having the
Mill, the oldest structure in
Nassau County, registered
as an historic landmark.
Joan and Chris Chiaffitel-lil,
this year's Frolic chair-men,
gathered information
as to the desires of the var-ious
organizations on the
type of booth or game each
planned to have. As usual,
all of the sales proceeds col-lected
by each organization
(after deducting expense^;)
go to the Museum so that it
may continue to be a grow-ing
institution of historical
learning for children to
become familiar with and to
oldtimers to remember. If it
were not for the Frolic, the
Museum might just stand as
a musty old building with
the same exhibits until they
disintegrated instead of a
lively place to visit with
rotating exhibits every
month. Doors open on
Memorial Day, thenceforth
on weekends from 1-5 p.m.,
with special tours arranged
by calling LY 9-1211.

explained the two Open
Forum Meetings on ques-tions
about the library were
scheduled to be held at Lyn-brook
High School prior to
the Public Referendum in
June at which time all types
of questions can be debated,
discussed and explained.
The Board approved rou-tine
transfer of funds from
one Fire Department
Accountant to another and
a Public Hearing was tabled
until the next Board
Meeting.
Three members of the
Lynbrook Police Depart-ment
were given Board
a p p r o v a l to attend a
Seminar on Police Crime
Prevention in Albany and
the main topic will be on
Child Abuse and related
s u b j e c t s like Missing
Children.
