This passed weekend
the Bethpage Chamber of
Commerce hosted their
Annual Summer Festival
and in spite of a rainy
Saturday, the three day
event was a true success
and attracted thousand of
families. This yearly sum-mer
event is very important
to the Chamber of
Commerce as well as to the
entire community, as pro-ceeds
from the festival help
to fund the Chamber's
Annual Holiday Lighting
Program, High School
Scholarships and contribu-tions
to needy families. And
just as important to the
Chamber, is the help and
support It receives each and
every year from generous
corporate sponsors. This
year's Premiere
Entertainment Sponsor
was the Bethpage Federal
Credit Union, whose gen-erosity
and support is sec-ond
to none. This year's
Gold Sponsors were Optimum, Northrop Grumman and King
Kullen Supermarkets. Their dedication makes this festival possi-ble
and insures its success each year.
In addition to expanding to a three day venue, this year the
Chamber hosted the event at Briarcliffe College. It seemed obvi-ous
to the Chamber that they had grown out of their old spot by
the train station, and although it was a tough decision, the over 40
plus vendors, would never have been able to participate at our old
location, and the Chamber was thrilled to have each and every
one of them there. In addition, the Chamber wishes to thank their
midway provider, Newton Amusements for their help and hard
work as well as Bay Fireworks, who lit up the rainy skies with
color on Saturday evening. Thanks must be given as well to
Frank Ceglio, BFD and the Bethpage Junior Fire Fighters for
their continual help as well as to the Nassau County Police
Department, Town of Oyster Bay, Briarcliffe College,
Cablevision and Maura McGovern (our National Anthem singer)
for their help. Most of all the Chamber extends its sincere thanks
to the community of Bethpage who support this event year after
year. The residents of this wonderful town make this event what it
is and manage to smile and support it in good weather and in
bad!! Next year the Chamber will be celebrating their 20th
Anniversary of the Festival, which promises to be better than ever.
