Classic Car Cruise Nights
Begin July 1
If you love classic cars, or
are looking for a fun way to
spend a Friday evening this
summer, then cruise on over to
the Long Island Rail Road
Station parking lot on Sunrise
Highway in Massapequa for the
Town of Oyster Bay's Classic
Car Cruise Nights, being held
from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m., accord-ing
to Town Councilwoman
Rebecca M. Alesia.
"Presented by the Town's
Department of Parks, Recreation
Division, Classic Car Cruise
Nights are great opportunities for
owners of vintage vehicles to
display their automobiles and for
admirers to enj9y looking at
them," Councilwoman Alesia
stated. "The events will benefit
community food banks, as each
participant is required to bring
two cans of food to register their
car to be on display."
Councilwoman Alesia added that
the Cruise Nights are free of
charge to residents. Those who
wish to display their vintage cars
at the events are required to
donate two cans of food.
Motorcycle displays are not per-mitted.
Rules for bringing your own
vintage vehicle include having
to stay for the duration of the
event; having valid registration
and plates; and registering upon
arrival, beginning at 6:15 p.m.
All vehicles must be driven by
their owners.
"Cars are an integral part of
the fabric of American life,"
Councilwoman Alesia said.
"Many of us remember when
dad or mom first let us use their
car. And many of us remember,
with great fondness, the first car
we could call our own, even if it
was second-hand. For some,
that first car is now a consid-ered
a classic, like the ones you
will see at Classic Car Cruise
Nights. Whether you own a vin-tage
car, or just love to admire
them, I invite you to come out
and enjoy a fun evening with
other classic car enthusiasts."
Cpuncilwoman Alesia added
that Classic Car Cruise Night
kicks off on July 1, and will con-tinue
on the following Fridays:
July 8, 15, 22 and 29, and
August 5, 12 and 19.
