in Washington, D.C.
Balfour Technologies LLC, a leading developer of four-dimensional,
integrated visualization technology for a variety of markets, announced
today that it has received a Tibbetts Award from the Small Business
Administration (SBA) for its state-of-the-art fourDscape situation data
and information sharing application. fourDscape amasses vast amounts of
situational data and allows it to be viewed and shared in real time in a
four-dimensional environment to aid the critical decision making process.
The SBA presents the Tibbetts awards to companies and individuals that
have advanced technological innovation and economic growth.
"This award represents years of hard work and innovation. We participat-ed
in a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Science and Technology
Directorate Phase II of the SBA's Small Business Innovation Research
(SBIR) program, and this supported our research and product development
efforts. We were then able to complete designs, and with Phase III fund-ing,
bring to market a system that is deployable and is currently in use in
certain sensitive homeland security applications," said Richard Balfour,
President Balfour Technologies LLC.
Balfour Technologies was one of 44 businesses and eight individuals
presented with the award by the SBA. Richard Balfour, President, accept-ed
the award at a ceremony in Washington, D.C., and added, "We are quite
especially proud to be the only company nominated by DHS." Afler the
ceremony the recipients met with SBA Administrator Karen Mills and
attended a reception at the White House.
