Luke's Lutheran Church, Farmlng-dalefl
held a birthday dinner and
party in celeJbration of 30 years of
continuous activity in the interest
of the church. Mrs. August C. Ihl-enburg,
toastmaster for the affair,
Introduced the guests of honor,
among whom were ,Mrs. George
dfjLvl, Sr., Mrs. Fred Koop, Sr.,
charter memibers of the organiza-tion;
Mrs. Charles Loehrs, Mrs.
Julia Rathgeiber, Mrs. Kate Keller,
Mrs. John Burkart, Mrs. Philip
Ohm, Mrs. Charles Franke, and
Mrs. George Carl, Jr. All honored
guests have held office in the or-ganization
and assisted with the
building of the society.
The Rev. Bernard Bohrer out-lined
the history of the Ladies' Aid,
sUice its first meeting, 30 years ago
at the home of Mrs. Louis Byning
—it.o efforts to raise funds to re-model
the little "German Church^'
on Washington Street, and the
xinal building of the present struc-ture
on Conklin Street.
Mrs. Raymond B. Fenner of
Christ Church, Freeport, spoke on
the missionary work, the title of
her talk being "Two Caps." Mrs.
Fenner is a member of the Box
Work Missionary society of the Lu-theran
church which makes known
the needs for domestic and foreign
missions.
Mrs. J. Herman Schwarz, presi-dent
of the society, was presented
with a bouquet of flowers by the
Missc-s Wilma Ihlenburg and Lil-lian
Finger of the Girls' cluto; and
with a birthday cake in honor of

T'Hhe annual dinner of the Wo-men's
Republican Club of Farm-ingdale
will be held at Bethpage
State Park clubhouse, June 13. Mrs.
Howard Hogan has been named
general chairman.
Mrs^-. Chester Uuriban won the at-tendance
prize at the meeting held
FiHlay night at the home of Mrs.
Frank G. Scholl of Cherry Street.
The date of the next meeting has
been changed to April 18 and will
be liel dat the home of Mrs. How-ward
Hogan of Baniberry Court,
Farmingdale.
Mrs. Lester Harrison, Mrs. Ho-gan
and Mrs. Frank Scholl were
appointed by the president, Mrs.
Alibert J. Walters to serve as a
nominating committee. The slate
will be presented at the next meet-ing
and the officers will be install-ed
at the annual dinner in June.

at Grange Hall
More than 100 persons took part
in a varied program of dancing,
bowling, cards and showing of an
Irish moving picture Monday night
at the Grange Hall, Bethpage. The
program was presented by the
United Societies of the St. Martin
of Tours Church of which the Rev.
Michael J. Hartigan is pastor.
Societies participating included
the Blessed Viirgin Sodality, the
Holy Name Society and the St.
Martin's guild. Among those as-sisting

for the senior play, "Merry Hares,"
