Married in Church
Miss Lillian VonEsson, daugh-ter
of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Von
Esson of Albany Avenue, Amity-vllle,
became the bride of Hans H.
Ahlsen, son of Mrs. Hans O. Ahl-sen
of Cedar iStree^t, 'Amlty^vllle,
and the late Mr. Ahlsen, at a dou-ble
ring ceremony in the Plainedge
Methodist Chui*ch, Saturday after-noon
at 4:30 p. ni. The ceremony
was performed by Uie 'Rev. Henry
Mower, assisted by the 'Rev. H. J.
Elliott.
The bride was given in marriage
by her father and wore a white
satin bridal gown and carried a
bouquet of white carnations and
lilies of the valley.
Miss Marion VouEsson, sister of
the bride, was maid of honor, and
wore a dress of pale pink net and
carried rose carnations.
Miss Lucy VonEsson, sister of
the bride, and Miss Caroline Ahl-sen,
sister of the groom, were the
bridesmaids. They wore aqua chif-fon
gowns and carried pink carna-tions.
Mrs. VonEsson wore a wine lace
dress with black accessories and
Mrs. Ahlsen wore a soldier blue
dress with brack accessories, and
both wore corsages of sweet peas.
A reception and wedding supper
for 75 guests was held at the home
of the bride's parents.

ENTERTAIN BOYS
AT SOCIAL EVENT
The assemlbly of the Bethipage
School was a merry place when
the Girl Scouts of the senior and
Intermediate troops were hostesses
to members of the Boy Scouts of
Bethpage at a party. Miss Eliza-beth
Michaels was chairman ol the
committee in charge and Miss Joan
Kramer acted as hostess. The
group spent the evening dancing
and playing games, and refresh-ments
were served by the girls.
The following members of the
Girl Scout Committee were also
present at the party: Mrs. Freder-ick
Kramer, Mrs. William Michaels,
Mrs. Albert Guerin and Mrs. Hen-ry
Strauber. Miss Geraldlne Mar-tin
Is captain of the senior group
and Catherine S'eltz, the interme-diates.
The party was <;losed by the
Boy Scouts, with Gerald Altman
sounding taps on the bugle.
69 Honor Students
At Bethpage School
sixty-nine pupils of the Beth-page
Grade School were named to
the honor roll, Victor Miller, prin-cipal,
revealed this week.
The honor students of each class
are listed as follows:
Grade 8: William Margot, Rod-man
Hartjen, Anthony Simone,
Jean Zoeller, Dorothy Spindler,
Jay Simmons and Daniel Schia-vetta.

0. E. S. Officers Visit
Emera Chapter
Rt. Worthy Isalbel Wright, dis-trict
deputy grand matron, and Rt.
Worthy George Plossl, district
grand lecturer of the Nassau Dis-trict,
made their official visit to
Emera Chapter, Order of Eastern
Star, held at the Masinoc Temple
on Wednesday evening.
The honored guests were wel-comed
by Irene Christ, worthy ma-tron.
A large delegation from other
chapters attended, including mem-bers
from F *hpage.
Rt. Worthy Mae I. Simons" had
charge of the ceremony presented
in honor of the visiting ofCicials.
'Refreshments were served and a
pleasant evening was had by all.
Auction Box Supper
Planned by Post
Old-fashioned waltz contests fea-tured
the auction /box supper, Sat-urday
night, sponsored by the Ar-chie
McCord post of the American
Legion, at the Theodore Roosevelt
Republican clubhouse. Miss I^na
Davis and Burt Ghoulston took top
honors in the dance contest.
Comminder Harry Belsha, who
acted as host to the 150 guests was
assisted by Walter Hartjen, Albert
Nelson and James Norman on the
arrangemenls committee. The com-mittee
has decided to stage another
dance next month.
County Commander Harlow Mo-sher
of the American Legion was
among tho guests, as was Lester
Siems, president of the Wantagh
Reipublican Club, who acted as the
master of ceremonies.
Board Suggests
Town Fill Culvert
Rock bedding of the culvert in
which iPrancis Fox, 13, lost his life
recently, is suggested in a commu-nication
sent to the Oyster Bay
Town Board on Tuesday evening
by the Bethpage Board of Educa-tion.
The hole, 'located on Powell Ave-nue,
east of the old Motor Park-way,
is caused by the discharge
of water through a drain pipe, llay-mond
J. Amendola, board mem!ber,
suggested that the condition would
be remedied if rocks were dumped
into the culvert.
The board will get estimates on
the cost of installing additional
athletic equipment in the play-ground,
following the recommenda-tion
of Victor L. Miller, prinoipal,
that two backboards and hoops are
needed for the basketball area, and
two backstops for the Softball dia-monds.

Draft Application
For Firemen
An application to be filled out
by prospective members was draft-ed
at the officers' meeting Tues-day
night, held at the firehouse by
the Bethpage Fire Department.
Chief Sal Greco, who presided,
said that the proposed applications
will be presented for consideration
by the entire department on March
3rd.
The department also will con-sider
creation of a list of inactive
members. Present plans call for
the acceptance of eight members.
Others taking part In the discus-sion
included Deputy Chief Graf-enstein
and Captain Arthur Auer
and William DeFanIs, commls-sdoner.
Demonstration
Dinner Held
Mrs. Joseph Ellinger was host-ess
at her home on Central Boule-vard,
Tuesday night, at a demon-stration
dinner.
Her guests for the evening were
Mrs. Rufus Barton, Mrs. Margaret
Kllnke, Mrs. Grace Holzmacher,
Mrs. Thomas Rozzi, Mrs. Helen Ra-fenskl,
Mrs. Leslie Johnson, Mrs.
Rose Johnson, Mrs. Rose Moulton
and Mrs. Mildred Neder and Mary
Coljeskl of Farmlngdale.
The Achie McCord Post of the American Legion is now
registering ex-service men in this locality for possible fu-ture
emergency service.
This registration is nation-wide and is not in any way
compulsory. Most veterans are past military age, but there
are many duties of a local nature which can be performed
by these willing and patriotic men. It is certain that every
Legionaire and World War veteran generally, will welcome
this opportunity of doing another bit for their countiy.
The questionalre pertains to the
veterans capabilities and talents
which could be used in National
Defense. This form will be filled
out in triplicate. The post will re-turn
the original copy of the ques-tionaire.
The second copy will go
to the department headquarters,
and tbe third copy will go to the
national headquarters.

Legion wilO be able to quickly lo-cate
any member or veteran for
whom special services governmen-tal
agencies might have a need.
It is requested that all ex-serv-ice
men, whether they be World
War veterans or not, register.
Any ex-service man desiring the
blanks or Information will be able
to obtain the same by calling at
the residence of Harry Belsha on
Stewait Avenue, Bethpage, or by

ROLLER SKATING
CLUB FORMED
George E. Roever, a Newsgram
carrier, and Joan Strauber, both
fans of roller skating, have start-ed
a club of their own entitled,
"Bethpage Roller Skating Club."
.Meetings will be held weekly on
Saturdays in the Mineola Skating
Rink.
Members of the club will receive
their membership cards within the
next week. They are at present
learning a straight waltz and the
"14 step". Boys and girls between
the ages of 12 and 14 who wish
to join, please contact George K.
Roever or Jean Strauber.
The following is a list of the

Church Benefit Event
Attracts Many
More than 100 attended the old-fashioned
dance at Grange Hall on
Saturday night under the sponsor-ship
of the Holy Trinity Episcopal
Church of Hicksville.
The Welsh terrier puppy, donat-ed
by the Brumby Kennels, was
one of the awards. Francis Sheri-dan
won a doll dressed in a -5.00
bill. Bowling awards went to Mrs.
John Rogers and Robert Llndeman.
Mrs. R'. K. Mackenzie was chair-man
of the event, assisted by Mrs.
Robert Marrs, Mrs. Hiram Marrs,
.Mrs. George Summer, Mrs. Joseph
Wyckoff, Mrs. John Olsen, Mrs.
William Stahley, Mrs. J. N. Talia-ferro
Jr., Mrs. Edward Richards
and the Misses Anna Wehmann
and Roberta Llndeman.
Fontaine Taliaferro headed the
bowling committee, and Thomas
Wainwright, Robert Marrs, William
Stahley and Kenneth Mackenzie
assisted in the serving of refresh-ments.

Makes Reports
A report on the proceeds of the
recent card party was given by the
committees in charge of bowling,
refreshments and door committee,
on Tuesday night.
The Parent-Teacher Association
wishes at this time to thank the
merchants of Farmlngdale, Beth-page
and Hicksville for their dona-tions.
Thank you notes are being
sent to the concerns donating gifts
for prizes,
Mrs. Wecheted, district chair-man,
will be present at the next
regular meeting which will be held
on Mar(ih 11th at 8:30 p. m.
Those serving on the refresh-ment
committee for next month

The first Lenten service was held'
In the S't. Paul's Lutheran Church
on Ash Wednesday. A regular eve-ning
service will be held each Wed-nesday
at 8 o'clock throughout the
Lenten season.
