MISS THELMA LEVINE
WEDS DR. FRIEDMAN
Miss Thelma Mickey Levine, the
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Louis
Levine of Brooklyn, became the
bride of Dr. Ellias Friedman of
Hempstead, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Emanuel Friedman of Bethipage, at
the Temple Aharath Sholom, iu
Brooklyn, on Palm Sunday after-noon.
The Rev. Dr. A. Alon Steinbach
performed the ceremony. The bride
was given in marriage by her par-ents,
and wore an old fashioned
gown of duchess lace and net. Her
veil was cupper with a' tiara of
white blossoms. The bride carrie(>
a white prayer book, a gift of her
brother, Robeil Levine, who was
Dr. Friedman's best man. The book
was covered with soft white sweet
peas.
Miss Harriet Solomon of New
Rochelle, was the maid of honor.
Tier gown was maize colored, with
a matching tiara and veil. Miss
Blossom Diamond of Mount Ver-non,
Miss Elaine Wolfenhaupt of
Forest Hills, the Misses Sylvia Bar-rie,
Rochelle Lampert and Celeste
liosso of Brooklyn were the brides-maids.
They were dressed in cor-responding
colors of maize and or-chid
gowns of lace and net and
carried old-fashioned nosegays of
orchid and maise sweet peas.
The bride's mother was dressed
in orchid blue lace gown with a
matching flowered hat. Her corsage
was of yellow roses. Mrs. Fried-man,
mother of the groom, wore a
silvered blue lace gown with a
matching flowered hat, and a cor-sage
of yellow roses.
The ushers were Dr. Nathan Se-row
of Connecticut, Lieutenant
Robert R. Levine of Fort Dix, Har-old
Friedman aud Randolph Fried-man
of Bethpage and Dr. Mac Car-rqzzo
of Brooklyn.
The temple was decorated with
palms and maize and orchid flocks.
The cantor. Dr. Ricci of the Metro-politan
Opera House, was accom-panied
by an organist. Dr. Lou
Sclialen of Bi-ooklyn was the violin
Boloist.
Following the ceremony, a din-ner
and reception was held for the
hnmediate family at Arele's, New
York, about 300 attending.
The couple left for a motor trip
flouth. Opon their return they will
reside in Hempstead, where Dr.
Friedman maintains a dental office.
Mrs. Friedman is an alumnus ot
Brooklyn College. Dr. Friedman
attended New York University and
is a graduate of the School of Den-tistry
of the University of Michi-gan.

Girl Scouts jMeet
The Senior Girl Scouts held a
regular meeting Thursday evening
and continued working on their
Red Cross knitting projects. The
girls plan to attend the Mineola
Skating Rink within a few weeks.
The Girl Scout mother and daugh-ter
dinner will be held a/t the In-stitute
of Applied Agriculture in
Farmingdale on May Ist. The Girl
Stouts and their mothers residing
in Plainview, Farmingdale and
Bethpage are invited to attend. The
charge per person will be 55 cents.
Harold Fiiedman has returned to
the University of Michigan at Ann
Arbor, iMch. after spending his
spring vacation at the home of his
parents Mr. aud Mrs. Emanuel
Friedman of Windhorst avenue.

The Theodore Roosevelt Repuib-lican
Cluib card party held last
Saturday night was a huge success.
Over 200 persons attended. Large
delegations from the neighboring
villages of Wantagh, North Bell-more,
Valley Streaan, E^ast Willis-
Lon, Hicksville, Oyster Bay and
.Massapequa were present. After
the games. Miss Cynthia Ecklund
entertained on the accordion for
those who wished to dance. Coffee,
cake, frankfurters and beer were
served.
The committee takes this oppor-tunity
to thank all those who made
this affair a success.

HOLDS ELECTION
At a meeting of the fire depart-ment,
held Monday night, the fol-lowing
officers were elected:

Legion Auxiliary Holds
Its Monthly Meeting
The Archie McCoi-d Unit of Beth-page
held its monthly meeting at
the home of Mrs. Edna Wilson,
Mrs. M. Sturgeon being the hostess.
The Child Welfare Chairman,
Mrs. J. Lauman, reported taking
Easter gifts to Howard Corbin at
the Brunswick Sanatorium. Plans
were made to visit the veterans
at Farmingdale Sanatorium with
gifts and refreshments, as soon as
a date is arranged.
Community service work for the
month has been helping the Red
Cross and assisting the Parent-
Teacher Associatiou in their activ-ites
and the societies of the local
churches, for their welfare fund.

Mr. Johnny Mowak of Hempstead
gave a "Weight-Lifting" exhibition
at the Ex-Firemen's Hall in Massa-pequa

Raymond J. Amendola, Joseph Ellinger and Francis
B, Looney have announced their candidacy for the Beth-page
Board of Education in the coming election. These
candidates have the full support of a large group of civic-
-minded citizens. The three
BETHPAGE RESIDENT
PASSES AWAY SUNDAY
Louis Damm, age 51, of Central
Avenue, a resident of Bethpage for
nearly 30 years, passed away Sun-day,
April 20, after a long illness.
Mr. Damm was a member of the
Bethpage Fire Department for 20
years, and one time was connected
with the printing business in this
community.
A fire departmental funeral was
held Wednesday afternoon at his
residence and interment was in St.
John's of Jerusalem Cemetery at
Wantagh.
He is survived by his wife, a
daughter, Mary Damm, and James
Gilsenan, a stepson.
Passing of Charity Worker
Mourned by Bethpagers
Mrs. Rose Grafenstein of Wil-liams
Street passed away at her
home Monday after a four month
illness.
Mrs. Grafenstein took an aotivt.
interesit in the Bethpage Fire De-partment,
and was the mother of
Alfred Grafenstein, lirst deputy.
S'lie also worked toward the sup-port
of St. Martin of Tours Church
in Bethpage, and although she was
not of Catholic faith, she was in-terested
in Catholic charities. She
was a memlber of thfe Theodore
Roosevelt Republican Club of Beth-page.
SuiTiving are her. husband,
Fred Grafenstein, and two sons,
Alfred and Edward.
Harriet West to Wed
Lester E. Ketcham
Announcement has been made of
the engagement of Miss Harriet
Wesit of Bethpage to Lester E,
Ketcham of Amityville. Miss West
i.s the daughter of John West and
the late Mrs. West. She is a grad-uate
of Farmingdale High School
and Oneonta State Normal School.
For the past two" years she has
taught the fourth grade at Amity-ville
grammar school.
Mr. Ketcham is the son of Mr.
and Mrs. Harry E. Ketcham of Ce-dar
Street, Amityville, and Is a
graduate of the Amityville High
School. He is in the contracting
and building business with his
father.
men have long been active in
community affairs.
Mr. Ellinger at present is the
president of the Holy Name Soci-ety
of St. Martin of Tours Church,
an active member of the American
Legion and Bethpage Fire Depart-ment.
Mr. Looney is an attorney and a
member of the Legal Fraternit>,
Phi Delto Pi, Lawyers' Sorority O'f
New York; also a memiber of the
Bethpage Fire Department. He is
at present serving on the Nassau
County Police Force.
Raymond Amendola has, been a
resident of Bethpage for the past
30 years, and an active civic work-er
for 25 years. He is an exemi/t
fireman, a member of the benevo-lent
Association, and is in the real
estate business in Bethpage. He
served on the Bethpage Board of
Education from 1&30 to 1933 and
from 193S to the present. He haa
been requested to serve another
term by the taxpayers of the Non-partisan
Committee.
Frederick B. Kramer's term ex-pires
at this time and he is not a
candidate for re-election.
Legion, Fire Department
Plan to Sponsor Dance
The Archie MoOoi-d Post, Ameri-can
Legion, of Bethpage, and the
Bethpage Fire Department "will
sponsor a dance May 17th at the
Republican Clubhouse on Wask-togton
Street, Bethpage.
On the arrangements coimnititee
are Chief Sal Greco and Francas
Looney of the Fire Department and
Joseph Ellinger and Walter Payne
of the Legion.
Proceeds of the event will go
toward defraying the cost of the
rtuuuul Memorial Day exeiHiises.

anniversary 1st Thursday eve-ing,
and were showered with many
beautiful gifts and congratuMory
cards.
