The Lions Club of Preepurt is to
stage a six-race outboard nie-t tu
the waters off Meister Beach, on
Sunday. August 26, starting at 1:00
o'clocfe. -
Victor K. Leff, chairman of the

at the W-weeUy luncheon of the
ciub ill Preeport Manor Tuesday
that he had received a letter dated
Thursday. August 2, advbing him
the VIllaBB Board had "no objeotftm
to the conducting qf outboard motor
races In the navleable waters south
oi Meister Beach, provlcUng that
saw navigable waters are adequately
patrolled and adjacent propert^_
the Nassau County Police I>epart--
ment." Th« letter was signed by
ViUage Clerk JMMIord P. Van Riper.
The races are to be conducted in
conjunction with the Long Island
Boat Racing AiB.<30clatlon of which
Stuart L. Cornell Is secretary.
The card Will comprise a isoap box
derby for youtua under 21 years of
a(?e; Class A and B utility. Class C
for 30 cubic inch motors^ Ota&s 36
for motors of the Evlturude and
Jolinscn 25 to 30 horsepower type,
and a feature race open to all.
A course over which the ra«es will
he conducted Is to be mapped out.
There will be six boats to a heat In
eacli event.
Mr. liiff said he expects the Free-port
Chamber of Oouimeroe to donate
a trophy to be awarded the
winner In an event for which the
race would be named. Trophies also
are expected to he donated from

Doctors Hospital Plans
To Appeal Its Case
I>octors Hospital Is flhiig an appeal
this week in its conviction and
$100 fine on charges that It housed
too many employees at two dwellings,
83 and 107 Washington street.
Police Justice Paul Kelly handed
down ft decision last week that the
hcipltal violated a Freeport zoning
ordinance which regulates the number
of rooms rented to a limited
number of per.sons in a Eesiden.Ual
"A" district,
Judge Kelly found tha-t the de-fpiidants
are housing at the two
dwellings five persons and four
per.sons respectively. He ruled that
the hospital and the nine partners
who operate It must stop the violation
within two weeks, subject to
an addtltona! $100 fine "on each
charge for each day such violation
continues."

bond issue to provide funds for
concrete ciu*s in connection with
the street-drainage program In
southern Freepoi*
After the roads arc paved, curbs
•will be required. Property owners
win have an opportunity to install'
then^ through private cotrtractors,
or have the village do the work and
let them pay for over a three-year
period.
The board also opened bids and
awarded three co^itracts for purchase
of roateriats to be used In
drainage work and the buUdtog up
of roads to corrAit grade.

Old Program Resumed
At Request OF Civic
Groups of Freeport
The Village Board will resume In
October its former policy of holding
two public meetings at night each
month. Besides these sessions—slated
at 8:30 o'clock on the first and
third Mondays—ithere will be afternoon
public meetings at 4 o'clock
on the second and fourth Mondays.
This schedule, announced by
Mayor Glacken a* the board session
Monday nlfht, followed requests
by civic organlaatlons. I t also
has resulted from an unusually
large number of public hearing
which the officials feel should be
held in the evening when more peo-pie
can attend. All controversial
mabters will continue to go on the
agenda for after-supper meetings
open" to the public.
The gathering which ordinarily
would fall on Monday night, September
3—Labor Day—Is scheduled
instead a week later on the night pf
September 10 art 8:S0 o'clock. The
other meeting next month has been
