Building Freeport's ''new" Main Street
Village master plan proposed
A new vision for Freeport?
The Village of Freeport, home of the Nautical Mile, is on its way to becoming one of Nassau County's Cool Downtowns, with residents living and working in multi-story buildings near the raikoad station, which is within walking distance of shops, restaurants, and other amenities.
The project, called "The North Main Street Vision Project" announced last week by Nassau County Executive Tom Suozzi, will include a one-mile stretch from the transit hub at the LIRR station to the border separating the Village of Freeport from the hamlet of Roosevelt.

The North Main Street Vision Project will be part of the county executive's "New Suburbia" and "Cool Downtowns" initiative. This visioning process provides a series of workshops and public meetings for Freeporters to plan for the future of their downtown.

from 7 - 9 p.m. at the Freeport Recreation Center. At that forum, the community will learn about the visioning process and have the opportunity to share ideas and provide initial feedback.
The goal of the visioning project is to assist the village in developing a 21st century master plan to help enhance its economic, social and environmental sustain-ability.
"I am happy to see that North Freeport will get the much needed rehabilitation so that all of Freeport looks like one community. This visioning will have the residents of Freeport who travel along the north main corridor feel
