The Middies arrive August 7
Mayor Andrew Hardwick and the residents of the Village of Freeport will be hosting the men and women of the U.S. Naval Academy's Sail Training Squadron this weekend.
Approximately 60 midshipmen and officers will be arriving at the Esplanade located on the Nautical Mile in Freeport on August 7 at approximately 10 a.m. and will be leaving on August 10. Over the course of their stay, they will be rooming at Hofstra University, and visiting local sites such as Jones Beach and other attractions on Long Island.
While in port, the sailboats will be open to the public from noon to 4 p.m. for onboard tours. The midshipmen and officers will also provide visitors with information on the Naval Academy's four-year college program.
The Village of Freepoit has been privileged to be a port-of-call for the Naval Academy midshipmen" for the past 11
