The major focus of the October 29 meeting of the Freeport Board of Education was the announcement that Superintendent "of Schools Eric. L. Dr. Eversley retires after eight years in the top job in the Freeport School District, the most recent position in a 41-year career in education. The other school board members also expressed their gratitude for his efforts to improve education for all of the District's students and foster better communication between parents and, the schools.
Representatives of the district's employee groups likewise thanked the superintendent for his service to the community and offered their best wishes to him on his planned retirement.
