Baldwin board honors outstanding students

Baldwin Superintendent Dr. Thomas Caramore began his report at the recent school board meeting by complimenting the district on an "excellent opening" day of school. Dr. Caramore said the "buildings looked great," and added that the success should be "attributed to the staff' whose efforts were responsible for the seamless entrance into the ^hool year.
Despite the onenday delay of the newly remodeled high school cafeteria, which Frank Fiumano, assistant superintendent for business and adminisirative services, explained as necessary while awaiting the appro^'al of the fire marshal and the Nassau County Dqjartment of Health, meals were available to students who also enjoyed the refurbished commons area.
Dr. Caramcare continued his report by highlighting noteworthy performances by students and educators within the district

High school student Sam SchoenBerg was selected tor the Sound of America Honor Band and Chorus as one of 186 students chosen to represent the United States in a European concert tour.
Baidvm Hi^ School senior Wiliam Eye was selected as a member of the 2007 All-State Mixed Chorus far the New Ycxk State School Music Association (NYSSMA) Winter Conference to be held in Rochester fitora November 29 to December 2. He is one bf 900 students selected fk>m the 6.500 applicants who aiiditionad last spring.
High school seiuors and art students Ma Lewis and Erika Lipitz were chosen fcs: the Adelphi University Weekend Art Foundations Ptogtam and will participate in the eight-week adv'aiKed art prcigram this fall.
