It wa;) a \en, bi:5.\ weekend along Woodclelt Avenue with se\en sailboats from the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis arri\ing at the Esplanade and the Freeport Fire Depanmeni hosting Nassau County's Second Battalion Parade. Five local fire departments took part in the march Saturday afternoon, including Freeport, Island Park, Oceanside, Baldwin, Long Beach and Point Lookout.
Each department displayed their apparatus, including several of the antique pieces of equipment. Freeport's own 100
>ear old pumper. Jumbo, which has been rebuilt and restored. took part in the event. The firefighters participated in the tournament held at the Fire Training Center on Sunday.
After a delay caused by mechanical problems, seven Annapolis sailboats arrived on the Esplanade early Sunday morning. The midshipmen attended a baseball game at Shea~ Stadium where the Mets were victorious over the Florida Marlins 10-4, and then enjoyed a dinner with members of the Annapolis Parents Club at Pier 95 in Freeport.
