SUMMER IS HERE and it's a good time to look back on Freeport's proud waterfront history. Here's an interesting piece of it, courtesy of The Freeport Historical Museum, 350 S. Main Street. Above is Woodcleft Canal and the Catholic Fresh Air Home. Formerly the Woodcleft Inn, it became a Catholic
orphanage and summer camp maintained by the St Vincent de Paul Society. In the early 1940s the village purchased the structure to enlarge Randall Park. Look to future issues of The Leader this summer to learn more about Freeport's nautical heritage
The De La Sdlle Sthool in Freeport, a scholarship Catholic middle school for young men, held its first graduation ceremony last week at Our Holy Redeemer Church.
The ten individuals, three staff and seven students, who were with the school from its inception in September, 2002 each receives a special recognition as pioneers. The Principal's Award for General Excellence - was earned by Patrick Aristhene.
The members of the Class of 2006 and the high schools they will attend are: Winston Ismael Anyarin - Bishop Loughlin Memorial High School. Patrick E. Aristhene - Holy Trinity
