The joy was apparent everywhere last Saturday at the "Star-Studded Gathering," a concert of Freeport High School's most gifted musical alumni, sponsored by the Freeport Community Concert Association. .

Linda A. Kellner, assistant principal at Baldwin Senior High School, has been named the 2006 New York State Assistant Principal of the Year by the School Administrators Association of New York State (SAANYS). ^
This award is given annually by SAANYS to an administrator who anticipates and resolves problems effectively, actively implements the goals and objectives of his or her school, and works to improve education programs and student achievement.
Ms. Kellner has taught in the Baldwin School District since;-1976 and has been an assistant principal at Baldwin Senior High School since 2001. Ms. Kellner previously served the district as a Spanish teacher and foreign language chairperson.
As an assistant principal, she has coordinated Homecoming, the Hofstra Seminar Series, and the Middle States Accreditation for Growth process for
Baldwin High School.
In her letter of support to the selection committee, Barbara Riess, chairperson of science at Baldwin, states that Ms. Kellner "is the motivator and the person who gets the job done, no matter how difficult the task. She is the person to depend on; the one who will always find a way to make even the smallest dream of a teacher or student come true. She serves as the role model for professionalism and has encouraged many students to pursue education as a career."
Susan C. Knors, principal at Baldwin High School, agrees. She notes that Ms. Kellner "is an instructional leader who serves as a model for new and veteran teachers alike. Her contributions to the culture of our school by working with student activities, and her instructional expertise make her a driving force for aca-
