BALDWIN'S OFFICIAL CHRISTMAS TREE was lit on Sunday, December 4. The community meno-rah will be lit on the eve of the first night of Chanukah, Sunday, December 15.

"mas tree was officially lit at holiday
celebrations sponsored by the
Baldwin Chamber of Conmierce on
Sunday, December 4.
The season's first snowfall almost caused the festivities to be moved Indoors, but the hearty crew brayed the weather and Santa came on schedule via the fire department's brilliant red fire engine, horns blasting and lights shining.
A host of businesses and groups cooperated in creating a community happening. Santa's best friend Terry Hess made sure the old gentleman
arrived on time, and he was one of the area's heartiest and jolliest helpers.
Numerous businesses donated ^' refreshments, especially Delicious ^'^ Moments Catering, which supplied*, hot chocolate and treats, along with Arnold Thrift Shore, Bagel Boss, Dunkin' Donuts on Atlantic Avenue ' as well as on Grand Avenue and S Waldbaum's. Flowers were suppliedn by Terranova Florist, A Flower Garden, and Imperial Florist.
The "reindeer" rides were sponsored by Regina Finkelstein of Doctor Promo Promotions, Howard Gains-burg of Baldwin Kitchens and Bath (conJinugcl on page ^

Saturday, December 10, will mark the ' annual Holiday Display celebration at 6 p.m. [at Cannon Triangle in Freeport, located at j Sunrise Highway and Church Street when I Mayor Bill Glacken will officially light the I holiday tree, along with a creche, menorah I candles, and a Kwanzaa display.
Following the lighting ceremony, everyone
j will go to the Freeport Recreation Center at
130 East Merrick Road, to welcome Santa
Claus. At 6:30 p.m., Santa officially opens his
Workshop where he will meet with the
children to hear their holiday wish lists.
At 7 p.m., the Ice Skating Academy at the Freeport Recreation Center will host a special Holiday Show featuring performances by the students and the members of the synchronized skating teams. The program is always a hit with children and adults alike.
Throughout the evening, musical entertainment at the Recreation Center will be provided by various groups from the Freeport School District.
ANNIE TURHAM was one of the many youngsters enjoying a ride on her very own pony with antlers, affectionately called a "reindeer."
