The first Freeport baby of the New Year is named Faith and was born January 1 at 12:30 p.m. at Winthrop University Hospital. Karen and Philip Mannino of Freeport named ihcir first baby for the taith they had that they would someday be blcs.sed with a child.
"I waited a long time. I h.id a disappomting miscarriage, but we had faith that God would bless us with this baby." said the petite first mom.
Faith weighed six pounds 10 ounces and is doing tine. Dad is a big help, says Mom. "We are thoroughly thrilled - it is wonderful," said Philip Mannino, who works for a software company in Jericho.
The baby is nursing better and sleeping better, according to mom, who is a professional in early childhood education. Karen Mannino grew up in Freeport, went to local schools and graduated from Freeport High School.
She is a le.<cher in » private school tor prc-school children with special needs.
Grandparents Dorothy and Richard Nuccitelli welcome this, their eighth grandchild, from their close quarters (up.stairs apartment) in Freeport. The paternal grandfather is Anthony Mannino ot Valley Stream, who now has throe grandchildren.
A winter baby with a bunch ot "pretty pink outtils," little Faith will be snug at home tor awhile. Her parents arc anxious, however, to collect her winnings from local merchants.
Congratulations to the new parents.
