Assessed valuation is down, taxable valuation is up this year
In Frccpon, the assessed valuation
decreased this year by 0.169 percent
and the taxable valuation increased by
1.578 percent, while Baldwin's
assessed valuation decreased by 0.436
percent and taxable valuation increased
by 0.561 percent, according to a report.
released by Abe Scldin, Chairman of
the Nassau County Board of Assessors.
. The 1990-1991 Nassau County
school asessment roll reached .
$4,194,496,389 of taxable value, an
increase of $81,249,810 from the 1989-
90 figure of $4,113,246,579 or 1.975
percent The increase is slightly smaller,
than last year's figure which was 2J)gt
percent growth.
These figures serve as the basis for
school taxes in Nassau County for the
1990-91 'school year. They include all
but one of Nassau County's school
•districts.
"An increase'in taxable, value helpi
to moderate any tax rate increase
caused by an increase in school
spending," said Mr. Seidin.'
