Improvement Awards Program

Landscape Contncton of
America.
- Atlantic Nursery and Garden
Shop, established in I937,_ specializes
in residential and commercial
landscaping, as well as
nautical'and custom designs. The
first project, entitled "Alpha
Window Syitemi," received
awards in commercial design/-
build and commercial landscape
contiacling. This project
involved the design of an eyecatching
landscape which would
stimulate tjte interest of potential
clients passiiil by. The'design was
to enhance the strong architectu-
- ral elements of the present structure.
Complementary lighting
and plantings as well as the
shapes of planters, walls, steps,
and .pavement achieved the
, desired effect. The other"project,
the Markowitz residence in Mer-
. .rick, received aaawardforresif
dentiil, landscape contracting.
This project involved the complete
remodeling of the interior/
exterior of the house, including
a poo! and spa.
Chairman of this year's award
program, Ron Mark, president
of Laskla/Mark of Phoenix,
Arizona, obsetved the panel of
six judges had a particularly difB-
•cult task selecting from the 186
entries. At a fpnnal ceremony
during the association's Annual
Convention in San Diego, California,
the award recipients were
recognized for their outstanding
achwyeinent by the presentation
of plaques and the viewing of "
slides from their projects.
The Associated Landscape ,
Contractors of America's
(ALCA) Enyironmentai
Improvement Awards Program
'reflects the association'^ eom,-
mitment to creating and preserving
the beauty of our landscape.
The ! program is designed to
reward landscape contracting
-professionals who execute qiut-ity
landscaping projects and to
recognize citizens who underwrite
such work. In spoosoiing the
, Awards Program, ALCA also
strives to increase public awareness
of environmental improvement
through quality landscaping
and 10 encourage th?
landscape contmctors' consstent
use of quality materials and
workmanship.
ALCA is a national trade association
representing approximately
1,400 exterior, interior,
and munteoance landscape con^
tractors from all over the country
and abroad.
