June 14th. Her membership was
then approved by the mepott
Village Board of Trustees during
its executive session Monday
evening, June. 16. Membership
in.the fire departinent is treated

'Village Board and discussion and
rates on members are held with- -
out the pnbHc present, ' .
Because seweral; members of.
the Fire Council are at an out•o^
town convention, the .Council
will next be meeting Ttiesday
evening, June 24. - .'
KOchaeis is the second female
to apply for membership in the
Freeaprt Fire Departinent, but

Michaels gives several reasons
for wanting to be a member of
Emergency Rescue -Company.
"1 want to "serve thjs' commuijity

to enhance and stUixe my medical
training."' Michaels also explained

its 1987 solid waste pickup. And
for the second time iitat bid was
submitted by Five Counties Cart- •
ing, - the company presently
servidng the village. •
The namt>en were lower tiun
- the first bid, received by Freeport
on April 7. At thit time. Five
Counties, which has been servidng
the village since it disbanded

department seven years ago, was
the- sole bidder, although bid
specs had been sent to 51 prospective
ones.
On looking at the quotes then,
the Village Board voted to revise
its specifications by eliminating a
newly proposed evening pickup
in the commercial areas; providing
for use of the village's transfer
station (as an option), to cut
