Contribute $8.72 to the Girl Scout

a Freeport girl to enjoy the advantage
of scouting for a year. This is
ft movement that was started almost
spontaneously and bids fair to carry
the drive over the $5,000 top, with
the sale of-Girt" Scout Cookies before
Hallowe'en rolls around.
In a letter of appeal mailed to
business men. Mayor William P.
Olflcken, who Is more than a nominal
honorary campaign chairman,
mentioned the fact that Scouting
officials estimated It takes $6.72 for
every Girl Scout for a year.
When Theodore Spltzler read tiie
letter, that figure took on added
significance. He called up Mayor
Glacken last Friday and asked:
"Does B Girl Scout pet all those
advantages jfor a year?"
"She sure does." the Mayor replied,
Tlicn Mr. Spitzler hung up. He
also got busy. He made out hla own
check for S6.t2 and then went from
store to store soliciting a like
amount uhtU he had ten checks. Including
his own, tor a total oT $57.20
which he presented to the Mayor
