FREEPORT - Recommendations on the adoption of a villaRc rent
control law will be heard at the Village Board of Trustees weekly open
voting session Monday night. October 22. Mayor William While, at the
Board's October I5th meeting, promised a room cn>wded with Free-port
apartment house tenants that he would hold open that evening's
weeklv board session to w ait for a
recommendation from the village's
Landlord-Tenant Committee
which is scheduled to also
meet at 7:J0 pm that Monday
night.
More than a month ago. White
asked the Landlord-Tenant
Committee to make its recommendations
on the oaestlon o(

Tenant Council, has also
stated that he has received many
letters and calls from concerned

Listening to the complaints of
high increases voiced by the
tenants present. White explained
that the Board of Trustees had
become aware of the problem
several months before, which
prompted him to ask Kinvan's
committee to study it. White
explained that if the Landlord-

counsel to prepare for a public
hearing. Such a hearing is legally
required before a rent control law
can be passed. A notice of the
