FREEPORT • "They can be used to vote for members of the district
Board of Education, but not for voting on the school district budget."
That is what the law. passed by the N.Y. State Legislature In 1978 says.
so absentee balloU m\\ be available to voters in the Freeport School
District election for one board member on May 23. Although it's the
law. the option as to whether or
not to permit absentee ballots is the state legislature will continue
left to the individual school its present school funding ar-districts.

days before election day to
receive ballots by mail. They are
available up to the d/y before
election If application is made in
person.
