FREEPORT - A jubilant Republican leader thanked his workers
election night in Freeport as results were tallied at^e local GOP
campaign headquarters on Merrick Road. Ray Malone told Republican
committeepersons and campaign workers who pressed into the storefront
quarters that "this is the happiest night I've had in 20 years...
I love you all."

singled out by their peers for special commendations at the Freeport

been announced. Meeting between
the Board of Trustees and
various department heads, for iht'
purpose of preparing .a tentative'
1979-80 municipal budget, are

The, board will meet -With
individual.. heads Thursdays;'
November 9, 16 and • 30 and
December.7 and 14 at 7 pm;
Saturdays. November 11. 18 and
25 and December 2. 9 and 16 at
9 am. except November 18 when
the meeting will b e ^ at noon
due to the Holiday Parade; and

Democrats, Levy promised, will

the Republicans' strong showing
in the Congressional, Assembly
and State Senatorial rac^ in
• Freeport could not be equated
with the local village race coming
up in March 1979. "There will be
local issues"-for. the voter. Levy
noted.

State Senator Levy took his
Democratic opponent. Puroy
Margulies." 5.795 to 3,022; and
while Democratic diallenger Gary
Serota tried to use the "Propo'
sition 13" fever and his affiUa-tion
with TRAC to propel him to a
seat in the Assembly, incumbent
Armand D'Amato was returned
to Albany by the voters, according
to eariy Mineola returns. In
Freeport D'Amato poDed 5,664
votes to Serptas 3,754. Again
