FRiSEPORT - In proclahning
this Sunday, February. 13, as
"Human RelaWns Day," Mayor
William White again thanked
the Village's Bicentennial. Committee
for "many inonths of hard
work to make Freeport's celebration-
joyful as well as meaningful."
Sunday's events, the Mayor
said, "also gives us an occasion
to reflect on the on-going en-de^
yorfs of many men and women
towards not only; the spiritual,
but community service aspira-
' tions of their p&rticular house of

Most of the financial items ~
were quidly passed through with
littfe comment or cpntioveisy.
First on the agenda were Board of
' Education expenses: S2,500 for
conferences and S350 for supplies.
'Next came the- District
Clerk's costs, indudisg $1,000
for personnel services and S1,000
for microfilming. John Sexton,
the Sdiod District's chief finan-filhung
was vital because the
district is legally required to preserve
its reoofds. Each .student's
cumulative marks; .for example,
must be held for 50 years and the
School Board's mmutes must be
kept in perpetuity. Microfilming
protects -the :records.; against,
fire, water and other damage. -
The IHstrict Meeting expenditures
comprise the cost of. one
public vote: covering the. rental
of .voting machines (51,300),
payment of persoimel (Sl,225)
and the printmg of advertising,
signs and ballots (51,750).
Next • year's - Finance Office
projections total $8,700,. an increase
over last year of 51,400.
Sexton attributed the jump to the
need of replacing and buying
ofQce^ equipment and to the rising
price of repair contracts.
Charges for Auditing Services
will al» be "boosted next year,
from $2,500 to $3,000. Levine recommended
that bids be taken
from ether accounting firms so
that the present fee can be eval-naled.
