FREEPORT — On Saturday
morning, March 13, 76-year-oId
Msgr. Eugene J. Crawford died
in the rectory of Our Holy
Redeemer Roman Catholic
Church, 37 Ocean Ave. Pastor
emeritus of the Church, Msgr.
Crawford was honored at Uie
Church's Friendship Ball last
year on the occasion of the fiftieth
anniversary of his ordination.
The clergyman, the youngest
of ten- children, was the
son of a Brooklyn carpenter and
had always wanted to l>e a priest.
After his ordination in 1925, he.
served in Brooklyn,' Astoria and
Lynbrook befoi-e becoming
chaplain of the Queen of the
Rosary- Convent .in Amityville
where he remained for 28 years.
• In 1959, Msgr. Crawford became
pastor of Our Holy Redeemer
Parish and stayed; there, until,

Mitchell Mallette Senior Citizen Apartments will take place Saturday,

Saturday. Larry Randazzo,

been left there by a ten-year-old
youth.
Randazzo explained that ibe
youngster, 'a friend of the

thought it to be a toy. While he
visited the store, the grenade was

issued more building permits in
