- A public hearing, on the
proposed , Freeport Village
budget for the coming fiscal year
will be held on Monday, January
14, at the Village Hall, 46 North
Ocean Avenue. Public hearings
generally begin at 9 pm but the
budget hearing is held at 8 pm, to
allow additional time for
questions and review.
Mayor White said the January
14 date was later titan in past
years because the Board wants to
give the public as much time as
possible to go over the, budget
before the hearing. Ttiifi Is one
day before the final dale allowed
for a budget hearing under the
Slate law, for villages with
Freeporl's fiscal year. He said
that barriiig any unforeseen
problems the budget should be
completed and available to interested
persons by 4 pm on
Friday, January 4, ten days
liefore the hearing. He noted that
this would give Freeporters two
weekends to study the budget in
preparation for the hearing.
The Mayor urged ail community
organizations to obtain a
copy of the budget at the Village
Hall. The Library will also have
reference copies.
