junkmen to pick up the

Freeport residents. That

an essential part of keeping the

. Christinas weekend in Fieeport saw twenty-five reportage
auto accidents with scores of people taken to Doctors
Hospital for treatment -
On Friday* Mrs. Lorraine Walton, 61, received a broken
left ankle when the car driven by her husband, Louis
Walton Jr., stmck a tree in front of 95 Broadway. The
same day Sonia Lee, 23, of 88 Hillside Avenue, was treated
at the hospital for injuries to the left side and right arm.
Miss Lee was southbound on Utz Sheet at Seaman Avenue
when she collided with car driven by Alfred. Zinna Jr.,
Baldwin. Miss Lee^s car mounted the curb at 240 East Seaman,
damaging the hedge, lawn and tree on the property
owned by Frank Johnson; An unknown motorist was in*
volved in accident.at West Sunii^JSighway and Park Ave-.

Atlantic Avenue and South Oceaii Avenue intersection was
tied up early Friday afternoon when Anthony Fucarino, 42,
of Mineola, weiit through a red ligbt because of faulty
brakes and hit auto driven by WiOtain Reid, 25, of Oc^n-side.
Damage was done to tiie lawn and fence at 328 S.
Ocean Avenue witti. Rdd, complaining of a lower back
Injury, and, Anthony Fucarino, ^ t h an inijured thumb,
taken to the ho^ltiit Alesahdro Rodrigez, 24, of 116 W.
Seaman Ayenue, was amig^ed bi First District Court on
Friday on diaiges of dnmken driving. He is charged with
hittuig two cars, one westbound and another eastbound on
Merrick Road as he was traveling east.
Saturday saw another accident involving a hit and mn.
Howard Shapiro, 170 Wallace Street, 18, hit a car owned by
Robin Rotf, of East Meadow, which was parked on the
eastside of South Bayvlew near Porterfield Place. Shapiro
told police he was attonpting to stop to avoid an unknown
vehicle that was nortitbqund on Bayvlew on the wrong side
of the road. A taxi-auto collision also occurred Saturday*
Mitchell Green, 19, of Roosevelt, driving a cab for Eddies
Taxi, was eastbound on Seaman and stopped for a li|ht at
Columbus Avenue vthen he was strack b^ another car with
the driver leaving the scene. A passenger In the cab, Ben
Jenkins, 39, of 71 Woodside Avenue, was taken to hospital
with pains in the neck and back.
Christmas Day saw three members of a lainily treated at
Doctors in an accident involving a driver who had been
drinking.-Ronald Ramirez, 22, of Roosevelt, his 2P-year»old
wife, Mara, and five-inonth-old Karen, were treated for
lacerations and contusions following incident in whidi the
car ui which dtey were pa^engers struck three parked cars.
The car, driven by Luis Cklindo, 21, of Hempstead, was
northbound on North Ocean Avenue when it skidded, hit>
ting cars o w n ^ by Marion Hoflman, 104 North Ocean
Avenue, AUen loli, 32 Adantfc Avenue and Fernando Ruiz
of Roosevelt Six-y^r^ld William Holder of Copa^ue was
also a Christmas victim, lecdvinglaf^iations of the head
and contudons to the body after being struck down at
Independenqe Avenue and North Main Street by car driven
by Francis Compjton of Hempstead.
The r^naining accidents were minor involving property
damage only.
