fhe temporary increase irt Freepprt's electilc-rate
granted by the Public Service Cominissioii in late Febniary
is on its way to becoming permanent. A PSC Examiner
lias recommended that the Village be allowed to increase
the rates to obtain $155,069 in additional annual revenue.
TheFebiuary decision had granted a rate relief of $329,000.
The total revenue increase of $485,069 recommended
by' the examiner compares with an increase of $549,747
originally sought by the Village.
The recommended decision is being forwarded to the
Village (it had not been received by press time) and to
other parties in the proceeding and they are being afforded
a total of 35 days in which to file briefs. The Commission
will not make any determination on permanent rat<^ until
It. has had the opportunity to review the record in the case,
the recommended decision and the parties' briefs. The

Village for municipal purposes Including street lighting
and water department operations. The last maSor rate
change occurred in 1959.
Two of the five hearings on the proposed rates were
held in Village Hall.
The PSC examiner also recommended a revision of the
Village's electric rate structure as a result of which, he said,
"there may be overpayments under the temporary rates
by some customers because of differences between the form
of the tranporary and recommended permanent increases.
