Saturday morning I was awakened at 7:45 by o racket out on
Smith Street. From ray window I saw the leaf pickers at work.
A crew of two trucks each with a driver, a vacuuitt apparatus, and
two operators, were tackling the mounUiJn? of leaves heaped along
the curbs. I'watched the crew as it moved along, one -man pickinj^
I'p branches, paper and other material that would clog the vacuum
JiQie and then ralcing leaves into position to be vacuumed, the other
workiiig^thc big vacuum hose back, and forth as the truck inclv^
