Freeport Chamber of Commerce luncheon held Thursday, Nov, 30,
at Al B. White's Restaurant
Commissioner Looney has been a member of the Nasiau Counly
Police Department since 1B3B. A graduate of St. John's.Law School,
admitted to the bar in 1B40, he
was appointed Commissionor Jan
uary 3, 1986.
During World War H, he served
with the Army Counter Intelligence
Corps" from 1942 to 1048
In Ciwablanea, North AJErlca, Rome
and Llna:, Austria, . m special
agent in charge of offices in those
areas. He was discharged as a
First Lietitenant.
On his return, to the County
Police Department, he was promoted
to. Sergeant in 1847, lieutenant
in WW, Captain in 19S4
and that same year'to Deputy Inspector.
In Januaiy of 1956 he was
promoted to Inspector and in November
of the same year was
made an Assistant Chief Inspector
and Chief of Distrkl, commanding
the Department's precincts. He
was named Chief Inspector April
7, JOOl, Deputy Commissioner
May -14, 1905, and Commissioner
of Police January 3; 1800.
From 1048, he was assigned to

to 1949 he WM a uniformed Patrol
