' T h e Freeport-School Board has presented a $e,995,45Jfl budget
»-to the citizens of Freeport for their approval on Monday, June 27,
- The'vote wllich is to be held in the Bay view and Atkinson Building
will begin at 8 a.nj. with tho polls closing at 9 p.m.
The n«w budget as presented is $109,381 less than thp one defeated
in May. It calls for a new
tax.rate proposal of -46c as com
pared-to the original fl6c requested
and wiU give Freeport a
$5;92'ta3c per 1100 of assessed
valuation. '
The 20c decrease is attrlljuted
to several factors, of paramount
injportance"are the cuts made in"
the budget by the BpM-d ol Education
as well as. -the; Increase in
revenues- coming into the "aistrict
,iJot previoucjy available. ^J
In cbnsidering its new budget
proposal the Board has decided
to' cuj all but the most vital areas
still fiuariuite^ing that the budget
as presented will enable Freeport
to maintain its high level of
education excellence.
