Saturday nights seem to attract trouble, seriou.'i trouble, ahvays in
or in front of certain notorious gin-mills, hang-outs and nefarious
establishments.

Wednesday, Oct. 14, because of
Columbus Day. The usual Monday

Freeport line in Roosevelt, witnessed

of an establishment called Someplace
Else which caters to the
younger set.
About 200 hundred young men
of all sizes and shapes neaily
blocked the road while varioiLs
fights broke' out among them.
There were also some fancy hnlr-dood,
tight-pantscd young ladies
present who watched the action
without blinking an eye-lid.
But there was not one policeman
in sight!

IN NORTHEAST SECTION
At a largely attended meetteg Monday night Rreeport Village
officials decided to press even vigorously their demand that the
County Welfare Department exercise greater care in approving funds
for Freeport relief clients in the Northeast section and making payments
to .their landlords. i
The officials will also try to
enlist the holdei-s of mortgages
on welfare families' rented homes
in a campaign for better.maintenance
of those residences.
About 30D persons, crowded into
the. Conference Room and outside
it heard a heated discussion
that lasted nearly two hours.
