COLUMN SALUTE TO THE THREE SPARLING BROTHERS . . .
In these days when newspaper headlines herald juvenile delinquency
in its worst forms, it is indeed a great privilege and a pleasure to
publicly compliment young men and women whoso endeavors are
commendable and constructive . . . This weeic wo pay public tribute
to the three Sparling Brothew: 17-year-old Bob, an lagle Scout;
14-year-old Lee who also became an Eagle Scout (The top honor in

this great international movement with less than M: ol 1% of the
Hundreds of thousands of Boy Scouts ever attaining this rantc), and
the youngest boy 11-year-old "Buz7." who is also a Boy Scout and
already taken up the standards set by his brothers . . . Bob Sparling
was graduated from FHS in June (38th in a class of 543). He enters
Tufts Univ. as an engineering major . . . Lee is a sophomore at FHS.
Both brothers arc members of the National Honor Society and active
in the Church of the Transfiguration . . . We congratulate these
young men and their parents, MR. and MRS. E. I. SPARLING of 268
Smith St, Freeport. Their sons are a credit to Freoport and to
America.
