First Meeting Since Elections
The Unity l^irty of Freeport ia very much aUveJ This was fully
«yidenced by the feet that 40 memheis of the Executive Committee met
en Tuesday night, Septraiber S, at a meeting headed by WilUain F.
01acken, former Mayor of Ereeport.
; The executive nientbers present represented every section of the
Community. This was bhe iiist official gathering of Unity Party executives
since the last S^rch elections,
A lull program of political and social activities is being planned
to he spear-headed by a major membership and social event scheduled
in early October. MStcheU Schneider was appointed by Ben Abbene as
Oeiieral ChaU-man of this major event.
The executiveTnembers present were Informed by William P. Glacken
that a membership survey revealed Uiafe the Unity Party contains more
tlian 2,000 paid members as of this date.
Bill Glacken, in his speech to the grcjCp^ also stated U»t the Unity
Party of Freeport Is very much aUve and will be in full action wltUn
the next few months.

The fVeeport Fire Department participated in "ihe Annual Labor
Day Firemen's Parade at Hicksville.
Headed by Chief Frank Musso and Deputy Chiefs Benjamin Cooke
and Patrick Cotdgnola. they were awarded 1st place for best appearance
and 1st place (or the Most Men in Line.
For these honors they -were awarded the Gerte trophy for the third
year and •will retain the trophy pemuanei^ly.
The Freeport Hre Dept. Band, headed by Director William Dayton,
led the contingent \^hloh totaled approximately ITO men Including the
band members.
The Departoient will next participate In the invitation parade at
Bockaiway Beach on Saturday, September 9,;
