logflher as » leani for the benefit of the Village of Freeport
and all its people. '
The past campaign was a rough one and it did effect
people ill all walks of Hfe. But the campaign is over and
the election revealed that the best men won.
Tliat is The American Way of Life!
Forgetting the friction and the rivalry of the campaign
and settling down to a solid Ibiindalion of operation is also
The American Way of Life.
This is done after national state and county elections
and it should also be followed after the Frcepoit elections.
Let's not allow the frayed nerves and the rim-away
liai-siniess of the campaign have any bearing on personal
relalions between any one.
We shoiikl not permit Freeport to become a divided
camp -split nearly .50-50 between Village i*arty and Unity
Party followers. We slioukl accept the results, the desire of
the majority, and ()uJl together for the general welfare of
the mmiicipwljty,
Freeport has a glorious past, a progressive present and
a promising future. The men in public office will be fully
cogJiizant of their re.sponsibiUties and they will exercise good
jutlgment lii all plans and decisions.
Even though THE LEADER supported Ma%'or Glackcn
anti the Unity Party in this past election, THE LEADER
will never forget to respect the office of Maj'or and Trustee.
We^jill continue to serve the Village of Freeport and
give complete respect and co-operation to Mayor-elect
liOBERT J. SWEENEY and his administration with the
full support offered by our facilities. We will continue to
offer our columns for his messages to the people and we
will use all wilMu our means to htda belter our community.
