so competently and enthusiastically as the Race

LOCAL RUNNERS SCORE AS BETHPAGE HOSTS 23RD ANNUAL CARTER,
• DELUCA, FARRELL & SCHMIDT HO HO HO HOLIDAY RUN
Dan McGrath scored his 12th overall victory of
the year, Katie DiPietro took top honors among the
women, and Peter Hawkins completed still another
wheelchair win, as neautiful skies and brisk tem-peratures
greeted the competitors in the 23rd annu-al
Carter, DeLuca, Farrell & Schmidt Ho Ho Ho
Holiday Run on December 18th. A total of 1060
runners, walkers and wheelchair athletes navigated
the streets of Bethpage on before crossing the fm-ish
lin at the John F, Kennedy Middle School.
A strong contingent of runners from Bethpage
did exceptionally well in this year's Run. The first
Bethpage runner to cross the finish line was 30
year old Michael Levtchenko, who scored in 7th
place overall and second in the 30-34 age group
with a time of 17 minutes, 40 seconds.
Other Bethpage athletes coming hime from the
Run with awards were Michael Gandio, who took
top honors in the Clydesdale 185-199 Weight
Division with a time of 21:19, Domenico Parisi
(3rd Clydesdale 185-199, 21:41), and Luis
Mendo^a (2nd Clydesdale 200 pounds plus, 21:44).
Also finishing the Run under the magic 30
minute mark were Bethpage runners Marco Abarca
(21:33), Daniel De Cicco (23:16), Karina Jiminez
(24:03), Jennifer Bernhardt (24:26), Lewis Kobel
(25:180, Gabriel Hickey (25:33), Dominique
Isnardi (25:59), Rosemary Jones (26:08), Michael
Filaski (26:13), John McGrorty (26:57), Julia
Fallon (27:27), Patrick Fallon (27:41), Thomas
Procida (27:54), Frances Corrado (28:18), Tim
Charles (28:19), Tim Darcy (28:21), Brendan
Cashell (28:36), Diane Isnardi (28:51), Maritza
Signorelli (29:05), Michael Cox (29:51), Carol
McGrorty (29:55), and Tara Costa (29:59).
Notwithstanding the great performances of the
leading nmners, the big emphasis of the day was
on families, with lots of mother-daughter, mother-son,
father-son and father-daughter duos making
their way though the course, and lots of youngsters
participating in the free fun run that preceded the
main event.
