Plainview Home Struck By Lightening
On April 22 during a late afternoon
Thunderstomi the Plainview FD responded to a
report of a smoke condition on Sunnyside Blvd.
Chief James Mertz was first on the scene and
reported a working house fire on Rosalie Ct. The
home had been struck by lightning and there was
heavy tire coming from the front of the home
with extension into the attic.
The Jericho and the Syosset fire departments
were called to the scene with ladder trucks.
Plainview firefighters quickly knocked the fire
down and extensive overhaul was needed.
No injuries were reported. Most of the families
belongings were destroyed in the blaze and a
fund has been set up to assist the family.
Money, gift cards, etc can be left in an enve-lope
marked "Edelstein Fire Fund" in the PTA
boxes at the Parkway elementary schdol or by
mailed to the Parkway Elementary School at 300
Manetto Hill Road Plainview, NY 11803-1397
