Bethpage High School Center for the Performing Arts hosted the 2010 County Executive Inauguration where 1980 BHS graduate Ed Mangano was
sworn into office by Supreme Court Justice Stephen Bucaria on January 1 at 12 noon.
Bethpage High School set the stage for the Inaugural Celebration of Ed Mangano who was sworn in as
County Executive on January 1. Mangano an alumni of BHS wanted nothing more than to have this ceremony ^
hosted at a school that has so much meaning for him and his family.
The event attracted well over 1200 people who came out to be a part of this special day. Family, friends and
colleagues were on hand to wish Ed well along with many elected officials and members of the clergy.
Special thanks to the Nassau County Police Department, Bethpage Fire Department, Vietnam Veterans of
America Color Guard and Leandra McNair who sang the National Anthem.Thanks is also extended to the God
Squad, Rabbi Marc Gellman and Monsignor Thomas Hartman as well as Father John Tizio, Arvind Vora, Bishop
R.W. Harris, Reverend Dr. Phillip Edward Elliott and the Antioch Cathedral Mass Choir, Chaplain Rick Mcrcado
and Reverend Sal Bennardo for their inspirational comments.
United States Senator Charles Schumer, United States Congressman Peter King and Nassau County
Legislature's Presiding Officer Peter Schmitt also offered their remarks and made the event even more memo-rable
with their presence.
The world of thanks is extended to Bethpage Schools Superintendent Terrence Clark and the Bethpage Board
of Education for all their help and assistance in hosting this event. Thanks is also extended to the Bethpage High
School Band under the direction of James Stehlik and the dedicated custodial crew at BHS for making Bethpage
High School shine brightly in every way! A great big thank you to all the students who volunteered their time as
ushers as well as the amazing student technology crew who made sure everything was searriless. Thanks is also
extended to the employees of Nassau County as well as those of the Town of Oyster Bay for their efforts as well.
Gratitude is also extended to all the tireless volunteers who truly made this event possible.
