to greet Hon and fellow Yankee stars Thurman Munson and Ron Woods at a New
York Yankee-Getty Oil baseball party at Bethpage railroad station recently. The
players teamed with Yank broadcaster Frank Messer and WHN radio sports
director Marv Albert on a special Long Island Rail Road train which made stops
in Mineola, Bethpage, Huntington and Amityville.

GETTING STARTED: Nassau County Comptroller
Angelo D. Roncallo cranks the starter for a vintage

Warren M. Doolittle, wait patiently. All four public
officials were guests at the Oyster Bay-East Norwich
Republican Club picnic held at Schiff's Field last
Friday. Caso has been campaigning heavily on the
North Shore in his bid to become Nassau's next County
Executive. Roncallo, the Oyster Bay Town Leader, and
Doolittle seek a return to their respective positions.

Phone Service
Mayor-Supervisor Andrew J.
DiPaola, Democratic candidate
for County Executive, called on
the new president of the New
York Telephone Company, this
week, "to make badly
deteriorating service in the
greater metropolitan area a
priority project".
DiPaola said he had written to
William M. Ellinghaus to offer
congratulations and well wishes.
"I expressed sympathy for his
problems, but at the same time I
pointed out that the people of
Nassau County are sick and tired
of endless waits for dial tones,
overloaded trunk lines and of
public telephones that are always
out of order", DiPaola said.,
"Who can say how many
problems are caused by a
citizen's inability to get through
to some government office? How
much anguish is caused by calls
that cannot get through to
physicians? Who can estimate
the enormous financial losses to
businessmen caused by bad
telephone service, the personal
aggravation and frustration?"
DiPaola wrote that he was well
aware that telephone service is
under the jurisdiction of the State
Public Service Commission, but as
a county supervisor and public
official, he said that he had a
responsibility to take what action
he could.

Nassau County Comptroller
, Angelo Roncallo has received the
'endorsement of the Board of
Directors of the Federation of the
Italian-American Democratic
Organizations of the State of New
York, according to Vincent J.
Trapani, state president.
Trapani .said "that Angie
Roncallo is an outstanding
example of an Italian-American
who has dedicated his. hie to
public service."
RoncallO, of Massapequa, is
seeking reelection as Nassau
County Comptroller, a post he
has held since 1968.
Trapani expalined that his
organization was endorsing
Roncallo, a Republican, because
of his outstanding service"' as
comptroller.
Roncallo said he was delighted
and honored" to receive the
organizations, endorsement.
Mrs. Marge Kreussling, Farmingdale, an employee
of the Old Bethpage village restoration, gets into the
spirit of the forthcoming Long Island Fair by practicing
her needlework. The Fair, which will be held in a
large tent at the restoration grounds September
September 18-20, will feature competitions for cash
prizes in such categories as needlecraft, cooking,
hobby items, flowers and agricultural products.
