Freeport has won Its fight to
have the timing of the lights along
Sunrise Highway changed so as to
end the ^congestion of traffic on
Grove, Church and Main streets.
Heretofore traffic along Sunrise
Highway has had the light In its
favor for sixty-three seconds, while
drivers on the cross streets have
had twenty-five seconds to get
across the higiiway.
On Tuesday -representatives of
the State Highways Department
chang#pl the timing of-^he lights
so that In each minute motorists
driving-along Sunrise Highway have
thirty-five seconds of the green
light while those on the north and
south streets have twenty-five sec-onds.

Local municipal officials and. civic
organizations have been urging the
change for a long time and nt was
only after Mayor Wlnne took the
matter up with officials In Albany
that they received recognition.
