Bethpage Night at Yankee Stadium
Proves to Be a Grand Slam Event
Bethpage Night at Yankee Stadium
proves to be a Grand Slam
Event.
Nine buses full, nearly 500 Bethpage
residents met at the Community
Park on Saturday, June 6
for the Rotary's Bethpage Night at
Yankee Stadium. The event which
is the brainstorm of Rich Furrey
was quite successful last year and
was once again this year able to
raise over $3,400 which will- be
used for the many charitable
projects of the Bethpage Rotary
Club which jr>clude the -many
scholarships which are provided by
the Club to Bethpage High School
graduates Rich and his wife Jeri
have truly made this event a labor
of love and worked diligently all
day to insure safety, success and
a grand time for all.
After a yummy bar-b-que which
began at 3:30 at the Community
Park the convoy of buses left for the
Bronx Bombers stompin' grounds
to watch them battle the Tigers.
Representatives from nearly every
organization or group in Town
participated in the event and the
event as well as represented
organizations were mentioned on
the big screen at the newly
revamped Yankee Stadium.
Although our camera failed us that
evening ! do not think the smiies
and happy faces of event goers will
easily be forgotten nor will Rich
Furreys lucky blue and white
Hawaiian shirt which he attributed
to last years' success.
And hovy, did those men in
pinstripes do? Well unfortunately
they were not as successful as the
Furreys and lost by a score of 6-
2. That was great news for D'dh
Carroll and vJean Sierney as they
were the iucky raffle winners.
In closing, the entire community
tips their hat to a fine job and a
great Rotary event. It is nice to see
an entire community corne
together and partake in a truly fun
and worthwhile event. Can't wait
till next year Richie, order another
bus and put that lucky shirt on
hold till next June. Congrats to
all.

Spring Clean-Up
A Huge Success
June 6 was Spring clean-up day is Bethpage as the Central Civic
Association and our School Civic Association sponsored a sprucing
up of Bethpage. The event started at 10:00 am at the library where
many adults and children showed up with broom and shove! in hand
to tidy up our town. Streets were cleaned up and plants were planted
with the hopes of giving Bethpage a little face lift. Congratulations
to all those involved in the cleanup and planting! Bethpage thanks
you for helping her look her best.
Pictured below are some diligent dirt busters who came out to clean
up Bethpage.
