CONNIE" DOOLAN
ST. PATTY'S DAY
PARADE GRAND MARSHALL
We in the Bethpage community
are delighted to have this opportunity
to pay tribute to Cornelius
"Connie" Doolan, on this auspicious
occasion.
Connie has been elected the
Grand Marshall St. Patricks Day
Parade 1992.
Connie and his lovely wife Ann,
sons Kevin and John have been
Bethpage residents for the past 23
years.
Connie Doolan was born in
Lough Parish, County Cork ire-land,
and as a young man gained
ail star credentials for years with
his club Team St. Finbarr's, and
^'\s native County Cork, at the
NJationai Sport of Hurling.
He emigrated in 1955 to the
Jnited States, and after serving in
:he U.S. Army, he continued his
Turling career as an all star for the
NJew York Hurling team, which
went to Ireland and won the St.
Brendans Cup in 1958.
Upon retiring from play, Connie
remained active in the Gaelic
affairs. He was chairman of many
international games and banquets.
He was personally responsible
for securing sponsorship for
the historic Globe Circling Tour of
the New York gaelic Football
Team which traveled and played
in New Zealand, Australia and
Ireland in 1964.
A good friend to the Irish Community
of America, he has been
instrurriental in securing scholarships
for a wide variety of
organizations.
Connie is a founder member of
the Emerald Society of the
Licensed Beverage industry. A
member of.the Ancient order of
Hiberians Division 15, and the
Knights of Columbus.
On Long Island he is a founder
member of the Shamrock Golf
Club and a founder of Soccer in
Bethpage.
Many organizations have
chosen to recognize Connie for
his contributions and have
honored him. Among them are the
Grand Council of Emerald Societies,
the New York Police Emerald
Society, the United Restaurants of
Liquor Dealers of New York, and
the Nassau Co. Hotel and Restaurants
Dealer Association.
After many years of loyal and
dedecated service in the Guinness
Corp. Connie was appointed
National Sales Manager. In 1991
he was promoted to Director of
Trade Relations North America, a
challenging position that takes
him all over the entire United
States and Canada. Connie is also
gifted with a wonderful voice, and
has rendered many guests with his
delivery of the Irish and American
National Anthems. He can also
give you a rousing rendition of
Danny Boy.
The Bethpage community
salutes the 1992" St. Patrick Day
Grand Marshall an Irishman of
great honesty and integrity, a
mans man. You do us all proud
and we wish you continued health,
success and happiness.

CANDIDATE FOR ASSEMBLY
Jeff Cohen, Republican candidate for tlie NYS Assembly in the special
election Feb. 18, signed a "no new tax pledge" at the Oyster Bay Town
Hall Tax Revolt Rally on Feb. 9. Cohen, the only candidate endorsed
by and running on the Tax Relief line, was congratulated by Pat
Friedman, leader of the SS.OQO-member Tax Revolt Coalition.

David Sfdikman, candidate in the Special Election for State Assembly
on February 18, (seated) is reading some legislation of former State
Assemblyman Lew Yevoli. The Special Election in the 13th AD Is the
result of Vevoli's win as Oyster Bay Town Supervisor last fall.
