Belhpage resident F*aula Johnson,
a Clerk IV in Nassau County Medical
Center's Human-Resources Department,
has been named tmployee ol
the Month for March.
Johnson, who has been working at
the medical center lor nearly 27 years,
processes all applications lor employment
and promotions and that
involves doing background checks,
workihg with the Civil Service Placement
Division and the Budget OHice.
"The job takes only about 10 hours
a day!" she quipped. "Actually. I enjoy
my work," she said. "1 like interacting
with the employees." In additit)n.

At the award presentation ceremony,
Chiel Executive Ollicer Dr.
Tracy F. Strevey Jr., gave Johnson
a beautiful plaque to commemorate
the Fmployee of the Month honor,
$100 in cash, a reserved parking space
for .^0 days, and a gift certificate for
two tickets to the Long Island Stage
theatre. He praised Johnson for her
long and dedicated ser\ice to the
medical center.
Johnson plans to spend the SI00
on an upcoming 40lh wedding anui-
\ersary celebration weekend wiih her
husband, Karl. I he Johnsons have

Town of Oyster Bay Hearing
the Oyster Bay J own Board has
scheduled a public hearing for lues-day,
April 23, 1991 to consider
enactment of a 1 ransportation Management
Ordinance.
Fhe new ordinance, which was
unveiled by Town Supervisor Angelo
A. Delligatli at a press conference last
week, is aimed at niitigatnig traffic
congestion on the public highway
system and assisting major private
sector employers comply with man-dales
imposed on them by provisions
of the 1990 Federal Clean Air Act
Amendments.
Ihe public hearing is scheduled for
10 a.m. in the hearing room ol Fown
Hall Fast, Audrey Avenue. Ovster

A few weeks ago Photonews Long Island Corp. began lo collect various
supplies and toiletries to be sent to a local serviceman. George Birnbach
who is a Marine and who was part of Operation Desen Storm. The labor
of love was accomplished through an overwhelming amount of donations
made by supervisors and employees and over 5 box loads were sent to
these deserving young men overseas.

On Tuesday, March 19 a local
businessman, became a local hero
when he apprehended two alleged car

were doing and ihen told them to

of a Ma/da which was parked there
and were trying to pry the radio out

Dennis once again left his ollice and

startled and began to run on toot mio
town. Denms chased the two and was
able to wrestle one to (he ground. 1 he
other alleged iheif ran back to help
his Iriend and hit Dennis to tree his
buddy. Dennis then ran back into his
oil ice anu ».allcd the eigth precinct
who quickly responded' to the call and
blocked oil all access roads out of
Bethpage. I hey apprehended the
