For the eleventh year in a row,
Head Coach Howie Vogts, Assistants
Erwin Dill and Dave Bennardo
have brought the Bethpage
Golden Eagles to the conference
playoffs. This year's team Captain
Ron Cercy, led a group of determined
young men to a record of
6 wins & 2 losses. All this and what
some critics were calling a rebuilding
year. What these critics didn't
count on was, 37 years of Beth-page
football tradition, the running
and passing of a talented
young quarterback named Brian
Rewkowski, the gusty running and
hitting of Phil Coniglio and Jacob
Lee, the sure hands of Brian
McGrath and Ed Yavarian. the
extraordinary blocking of captain
Ron Cercy and brother Peter
Cercy, the toughness of middle-line
backer and center Tim Brace,
the quickness of Dan Weingart,
Ron Bohlert and David Geller.
These seniors surrounded by a
host of talented underclassmen
maintained our stature in the
league. This coming Saturday,
Nov. 23 at 4:30 in the afternoon.
The Eagles will play Lynbrook H.S.
at Hofstra University in the first
round of the playoffs. Bethpage
will be out to avenge an earlier loss
to Lynbrook. Come join us in the
festivities and cheer your Eagles
to victory.
