J.F.K. SPIRIT
FUNDRAISER
TURNS INTO
MUCH MORE
What started out as a simple Fund
Raising event, turned out to be a
massive production of buttons that
were quickly in short supply.
The JFK Middle School launced its
Spirit Week button sale on Thursday.
January I7ih—the morning after the
start of the War in the Persian Gulf.
The students were to design their own
buttons for the up-coming Siril Week
festivities. However, Spirit Week soon
took a back seat to Operation Desert
Storm. First there were buttons with
yellow ribbons which read Desert
Storm. Then came the buttons with
yellow ribbons superimposed over the
American flag with the inscription Desert
Storm. Many Peace Sign buttons
were also made and sold.
As students, as well as faculty and
stff, began wearing their buttons, the
demand from outside sources began
to grow. Soon the dedicated PI A
Button workers were turning out
Desert Storm buttons by the do/ens.
