YOUR OFFICIAL. HOMETOWN MIEWi
Sei-ving Bethpage, Island Trees, Plainedge, Seaford, Old Befhpage and Plalnview
VOL 24 NO. 20 April 19-25, 1991
I am a teacher of English at J.F.K. Middle School who would like to
remind your readers of how far the good will of the young people of Bethpage
extends. Sgt. Garry Green, who corresponded with our English class as part
of Operation Desert Shield/Storm, is carrying that good will back to his
hometown of Alexandria, La., after conveying it through the Persian (Julf
and Portugal.
Our class had sent Sgt. Green the center page from the Bethpage Tribune
issue which depicted scenes from Bethpage's rally in support of the troops.
I am enclosing a copy of Sgt. Green's letter in which he indicated just how
much that rally and others like it meant to the troops.
We had promised Sgt. Green that upon his arrival heme, we would remove
the yellow ribbon which hangs in our classroom. It is with great joy that
we do so.
Sincerely,
Antoinette Cennamo
