Bethpage Historical Society Becomes Central Park Historical Society
The Historical Society of Bethpage
announced this week that it is changing
its name to "Central Park Historical
Society" of Bethpage.
This change was necessary in order
to obtain a charter as an educational
organization from the New York State
Board of Regents. The Board of
Regents feh that the name Historical
Society of Bethpage would be confused
with the Farmingdale - Bethpage
Historical Society, which has been in
existence for a few years.
In order to operate as an educational,
non-profit organization, the
Board of Directors of the Historical
Society of Bethpage voted to apply
for their charter under the new name
of "Central Park Historical Society"
of Bethpage.
Just a reminder our historical
postcards, depicting old scenes of
Bethpage, are now on sale. Everyone
should have these as momentoes of
bygone days in Bethpage. They are
available in packets of ten cards for
$2.50. For information call Mike
Ryan at 681-8226.
THE WINNERS...for the second year in a row the Bretton'vS Deli
Football team defeated ADC with an inpressive 26-13 victory.
But more impressive than the win was the fact that the game
raise over $10,000 for the needy families of Bethpage. Now that's
impressive.

n December 10, 1989 the
Second Annual Benefit
Football Game, sponsored
by Bretton's Deli, the
Police Athletic League and ADC
Construction Co., was held at the
Howie Vogts Field in Bethpage. Much
like last years game, the event proved
to be quite successful...Quite? More
like extremely... Extremely? Not
really...PHENOMENALLY SUCCESSFUL!
The event raised over
$10,000 for the needy families in
Bethpage. And, of course, Bretton's
Deli again defeated the constuction
company with an impressive 26-13
victory.
Much credit should be given to
Gary Bretton and Mark Bretton,
organizers of the event, who, through
sweat, determination and kindness
raised over 3 times the amount of last
year's game and virtually double what
they had anticipated. Without them
this event would not have been
possible.
At a time when most people are
concerned with finishing their holiday
shopping lists it is amazing to see the
community of Bethpage come
together and give of themselves. Not
