WHEREi\S: Leo Schottland. is such an individual, having compiled aa
outstanding record of community service and involveiaent in Bethpage where he is a charter
member of the Botary Club, has been active with the local library and the Old Bethpage
Village Restoration and gives generously of his time and talents to loc&l hospitals and
special programs for children; and
WHEREAS: for many years, Leo ha^ also been a coiuranist for the
Bethpage Tribune, delighting his readers with his poetry and his unique; views on life and the
v;orld around him,.
NOW, THEREFORE, WE, the Oyster Bay Town Board, do hereby take this
opportunity to publicly acknowledge and commend Leo Schottland for advancing the general
welfare of his community and its citizenry through his own personal actions, and we do
congratulate him on the recent dedication of Leo Schortland Court, an honor befitting a rr.an
who has long been a dynamic and vital force in his community.

received a citation from the
, ^ Town of Oyster Bay which
was to be presented to Leo Schottland
in recognition of his outstanding
community service and the dedication
of Leo Schottland Court, which is
located in the Bethpage Community
Park in Bethpage. Leo Schottland,
who passed away on September 13,
1989 was truly deserving of this honor
and we are sure that his family will
be pleased and honored to be presented
with this citation.
It is no doubt that all of us who
knew Leo will miss him greatly but
we can be equally sure that this special
man will never be forgotten in our
heajrts. His poetry will live on, his
philosophies will always be remembered
and the impact he had on
Bethpage and its residents will never
be forgotten. We hope Leo Schottland
Court will memoriali/e the man wc
all loved so dearly. The Bethpage
Tribune, The Town of Oyster Bay and
the Bethpage Rotary (.'luh are happy

On Sunday September 24,1989
at 1:00 p.m.,
a dedication ceremony
will be held at Eileen Gardens Park.
To honor the late John Masino,
the park will be renamed:
•THE JOHN A MASINO PARK"
We ask that all those who
benefited from knowing John,
